Summer Getaway

As we are ending July and getting ready for August's last days of summer I am thinking more and more about the coming school year...which bothers me. I have actually one month today left of my summer. I don't need to be thinking about its end yet! There are things to do! My friend and I are still adamant about going on a hike some Saturday before we have to part ways again.

Unfortunately, my plans for the summer do not include an actual vacation. It hurts to admit, but for what feels like the first time--though probably isn't--we are not going on any trips. No Disney World. No beach. I am hanging my head in disappointment as I type this. However, being the dreamer that I am, that fact has not stopped me from pining over everyone else's vacation photos and dreaming up the possible getaways that I could take!

Have I ever considered leaving the east coast? No. Would you actually have to pull me away kicking and screaming? Very much so. But seeing Stephanie Sterjovski's photos from her trip to Palm Springs made me thing, "Eh. What's a few days?" :)

To everyone's surprise, I'm sure, one of my dream vacations is to the mountains. I mean the Rockies or something rough, yet beautiful looking. I live basically on the Appalachian Trail and these are some beautiful rolling hills...not what I want to see out of a mountain! Let's just not talk about the snakes that are probably waiting for me on this dream trip, okay?

Happy December, everyone! I am now 100% in festive holiday mode. I've got my pink flannel snowman pajamas on, egg nog candle lit and Christmas music blaring. Please excuse how annoyingly happy I am. Honestly, I'm pretty much Buddy the Elf level all of December. 

Get ready for lists, lists, lists! Gift ideas galore are coming at you all month plus Christmas cookie recipes. How could I not? Today I have my own Christmas wishlist--though it's not the real one. These are the things that I want but I know I will not be getting because of the hefty price tag they bear. Basically this my dream list; my reach-for-the-stars wishlist. We all have those, right? Feel free to wish along with me!

When The Weather Outside is Frightful

16. This is the number I saw when I looked at my weather app this morning. That had a snowflake next to it. It was a bitterly cold day; luckily this was one of those day when my boss needed me to run across campus to pick something up and bring back. I think I'm starting to get the feeling back in my legs.

Since I have gotten home, I have grabbed a blanket, turned up the thermostat, made hot chocolate, turned on the Christmas music, and scanned Pinterest for images to warm me up. Here are just a few of the images that have me dreaming of a cozy and warm atmosphere. Socks, blankets and a crackling fireplace are absolutely quintessential. I hope I have helped to warm you up as well!
